February 14, 2007 - Happy Valentines Day , The Lovers & The Two Of Cups

Happy Valentines Day everyone. I wrote an entry awhile ago about the lovers and figured I would repost it today. The entry was entitled "When The Lovers Just Don't Make Sense". We all understand "The Lovers Of The Major Arcana" & "The Two Of Cups" represent love interests. However, they do sometimes appear in a reading and they just don't fit into the love category. When This happens you can use this as an alternative. You will find the article below the picture I posted.

Sometimes The Lovers card can be a tricky one to read. It often pops up in a reading and you know it has nothing to do with love or relationships. So outside of the obvious "I see a new relationship brewing", "marriage on the horizon" or "the reckindling of romance" lets look at The Lovers card in a different light.

Besides love The Lovers card is about making a commitment to a crucial decision. Some decks refer to this card as the card of The Two Paths. So The Lovers are showing you that a decision needs to be made. You need to decide the path you will travel and stick to it. Once on that path there is no turning back. Simply put, make up your mind ,stick to it, and just do it.

The Lovers card in the Rider-Waite deck is a great example of this. It's very easy to see the biblical Adam & Eve in this card. Behind Adam is the tree of life & behind Eve is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In the tree of knowledge slithers the serpent tempting Eve to eat of the tree's fruit. Eve knows this fruit was the only thing God told them was off limits. She knows that if she gives in to temptation there may be consequences to her actions. The spirit or angel possibly Raphael looks on impartial to the decision that will soon be made.

Looking at the card in this way it is now easy to see how this refers to making a crucial decision. Eve had a choice to make. She knew that the tree's fruit was off limits. She knew eating the fruit would displease God. She knew there would probably be consequences for her actions. So what does Eve do ? She throws caution to the wind and takes a bite. To make matters worse she then brought the fruit to Adam and he now had to make that same choice. Adam took a bite of the fruit and the rest is history or "his-story" depending on how you want to look at it. Regardless, from that point on everything changed for the two of them.

Just like Adam & Eve we all have choices to make. Some may have positive results, some choices may be disasterous. Once a decision like this is made though, there is no turning back.

I think what this card tell us, is to carefully choose our path. Know that once this path or choice is made that there is no turning back. The choice that is made could possibly change everything for better or for worse, so choose wisely. Its nice to know however that Spirit (represented by the angel in the picture) is impartial to our decisions.Whatever path or choice is choosen, you will still have guidance and support from your higher powers.

February 06, 2007 King of Cups

The King of Cups

I read the King of Cups as a card of business and law. When this King arrives upright in a reading it usually means a business partner, lawyer, or powerful person that will be of benefit to the querent.

This could be a coming business deal, or some type of legal matter. This King in the upright postition is a good omen for people with questions about business partners or legal representation.

In the reversed postion, the King will likely represent someone that is about to do a disservice to the querent in matters of business or law. This is a dishonest, double dealing person who should not be trusted. Could also be a person of slander set on discrediting the querent.

December 07, 2006 Storm Update

Here's the storm update. It would seem the storm just about missed us. We got very little effects from it. I guess we still have another one on the way , but my readings show no signs of the Five Of Pentacles. I am still going to post that card in this blog every time it appears.

I read a lot of books on tarot so I will be adding some book reviews here shortly. You should find the first one this weekend.

December 1, 2006 The Five Of Pentacles

O.K. from now on when the Five Of Pentacles shows up in a personal reading I am going to post it immediately to this blog. If you go back to the October readings, when the Five Of Pentacles showed up we got hit with a major storm. Last night I did a past, present and future reading and again the Five Of Pentacles showed up in the future position. This was the same position it showed up in the last time in the exact same type of spread. Once again a major storm is forecasted for this area. I am preparing for the worst. The last time this card showed up in this position we got slammed with a storm that knocked out power to over 300,000 people.

In the Rider - Waite deck the Five Of Pentacles shows two homeless people trudging through the snow. Now I always read the Five Of Pentacles as a card of financial ruin, or at least in it's upright position a fear of financial loss. If I read the reversal of this card I see it as certain financial loss. I never really associated this card with weather.

I now feel I have to incorporate the weather aspect of this card into my personal readings. I will start posting this card into my blog immediately after it shows up in this position from now on. I strongly feel this is more than just coincidence.

Well if we don't lose power I will post the results of the storm in the next couple days.

November 23, 2006 Happy Thanksgiving Everyone :)

Happy Thanksgiving :) I hope everyone has an abundant feast for their holiday.

Thanksgiving is that one day we give thanks for everything we have. Although we should always be grateful to Spirit, God or whatever you want to call your higher power, we often take our abundance and good fortune for granted.

On this day we give thanks for blessings both big and small. We can appreciate a family meal, good conversation, good food, wine & beer, football, the new flat screen TV and all the other wonderful things in our lives.

I thought it would be nice to go through the cards and pick out the ones that remind me the most of this holiday. So here we go....

The Wheel Of Fortune brings success, abundance and good fortune into our lives. We should always be thankful for a positive turn of the wheel.

The Sun brings warmth, joy, and pleasure in the simple life. The sun nurtures our food and our souls. I give thanks to the sun for the food on our table and the abundance it brings.

The World is another card of Spirit. The four guardians symbolize the spirits of north, west, east and south, the IV pillars of heaven, earth, air, water, fire. This is a card of success and reward. I give thanks to the world for all she has given us.

The IV of Wands brings great joy and celebrations. Harmony, prosperity and peace, all things to be thankful for.

The Ace of Cups represents abundance in all things. May Spirit fill your heart with joy & may your cup runeth over on this day of thanks.

The III of cups show three maidens toasting. This is another card of celebration and abundance. Lets join in their toast and celebrate this special day.

The IX of Cups shows a man sitting in front of 9 cups. He is content and looks to be a well-dressed happy fellow. He may have just finished preparing for his Thanksgiving Day celebration. This card represents material success in all its forms. The IX also reminds us of excess, so we need to remember that sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad. For thanksgiving let it be a reminder not to eat and drink too much :)

The X of Cups shows a family under a rainbow. The children dance and the parents look proudly over their domain. This card reminds us to be thankful for our families, homes, and lives.

The III of Pentacles is a card of work, employment and craftsmanship. A reminder to be thankful for our jobs and the means we have to put food on our tables.

The V of Pentacles shows two destitute people trudging through the snow. They may be going to a local church or shelter for their thanksgiving meal. This is a reminder to be thankful for all you have. No matter how bad things are they could always be worse. It's also a reminder that no matter how bad things are, Spirit will always provide.

The VII and VIII of Pentacles remind us to be thankful for the workers and laborers in the world. The VII of Pentacles, the farmer who grew your food and the VIII of Pentacles, the craftsman who made your silverware, plates and furnishings. These are the people that make the world go round and they should receive our blessings and positive energy on this wonderful day.

Finally my thanksgiving wish to all. May your lives and homes be as bountiful and abundant as the X of Pentacles and may The World (mother earth) supply you with everything you need :)

Happy Thanksgiving !!!
