The Bad Beat

One of my favorite sites on the drive to Cripple Creek
Someone made the Bad Beat at the Midnight Rose while I was across the street playing blackjack. For the uninitiated, Bad Beat is a jackpot offered by some casinos when a poker player has a full house of Aces over Jacks or a better hand than that even, yet loses to another player who has a better hand still. In this case two players had the lower and higher end of a straight flush. Since the Bad Beat jackpots at the Rose have been hovering around $45,000, I hear the losing player got $20,000. I believe the two high hands split 40-30 of the jackpot and the rest divide evenly what's left.

I would have been disconsolate had I not learned the jackpot was at a 5-5 table, and not at the 2-5 tables where I always play. So I still have a shot.
