Dagenham United 0 v 1 UPR Reds
Under 9 Friendly
After their 3:0 victory over Pegasus last week, the home side came across sterner opposition in the shape of UPR. It was UPR's first game of the season, and what an entertaining encounter it proved to be. The home side started strong and went close with a few long drives. Steven Hughes in goal pulled off some wonderful saves. The solid Hatch & Bruin in defense kept the home side at bay. The midfield of Sroka, Price, O'Byrne and Williams worked their socks off as UPR started to get more into the game. Bruin and Sroka went very close with superb shoots but it was left to Elliott Suett to steal victory for UPR when he raced onto keeper Steven Hughes goal kick to score the winner.

Within 5 minutes Dagenham United equalised but within a further 5 UPR had regained the lead with Liam O'Byrne taking his chance well. A lacklustre final 10 minutes saw UPR fall to pieces. Dagenham United scored 3 goals in quick succession to conquer a tired UPR. |

Romford Royals 3 vs 1 UPR Reds'
Under 9 Friendly Report written by Roy Gerbaldi Manager Romford Royals
Another good, keenly fought friendly between our sides played in an excellent spirit. Not a hint of trouble on or off the pitch. I thought that we started very bright and played some good football. Tom scored from close range after a really good move and Terry hit a scorching left foot volley just a few minutes later (usually he can't even pass 5 yards with his left). UPR hit back just before half time which changed the game us he looked pretty comfortable until then. UPR looked much stronger in the second half and started the brightest and the game was in the balance. The introduction of Kieran Brown on the left with 15 minutes remaining gave us more balance. We then got on top, Tom scored with a fortunate deflected volley and we probably could have scored a few more, although UPR also created a few good chances. The scoreline was probably a true reflection although the game could have gone either way in the second half as I thought your boys were on top in spells of the game. In the end, both sides tried to play good football and it was a lovely sunny morning. Thanks for the game and I hope that you enjoyed it.

Calpe Boys ?A? 4 vs 0 UPR Reds'
Under 9 - Echo League Green Division
UPR were totally outclassed by Calpe. A few of the boys had no fight or will, unfortunately this attitude was transmitted to a number of other boys; Ryan Sroka alone ran his socks off but received no support. 3 nil down at half time, UPR improved a little in the second half but I don't believe the home side's keeper had to make one save in the entire match.

Barking Colts 2 vs 4 UPR A
Echo League 'Green' Under 9
In superb conditions UPR secured second place in this entertaining encounter. Barking Colts took an early lead against the run of play after the UPR defence failed to clear what appeared to be a harmless cross. George Bruin bravely equalised for UPR when he put away a cross from Ryan Sroka. At half time UPR replaced Newman Bruin with Suett and O'Donoghue and were immediately rewarded for their impressive play by a well taken shot from Elliott Suett after another Ryan Sroka cross. Thomas Williams marking a rare appearance for UPR constantly harassed the home side defence. Barking Colts kept battling away and went close on three occasions but were denied by some outstanding saves by Stephen Hughes but not before long the home side equalised and the UPR boys seemed to despair. However a wonderful run and bit of skill by Ryan Sroka opened up the home sides defence and he tucked away the opportunity to regain the lead for UPR. The nerves settled and UPR started to play some good football and were rewarded with another goal from Elliott Suett. Stephen Hughes just edged out Ryan Sroka for the Man of the Match award.

Under 9 Friendly
UPR's top goal scorer Elliott Suett (36 goals this season) tried his hand between the sticks in this Under 9 friendly. .
Despite UPR having a lot of possession, Barns went one up with a well-taken goal. An unfortunate own goal brought the scores level before the half time break. At half time UPR brought on Sroka & Bruin for Donovan & Argent & were rewarded when Ryan Sroka headed home a superb Liam O'Byrne cross. UPR continued to press forward. James Emerton making a sound UPR debut in defence' was replaced by regular keeper Steven Hughes. He to looked very solid along with Man of the Match John Newman in the defence.
UPR gained a free kick on the edge of the Barn penalty area & with a 3 man wall facing Ryan Sroka he passed the ball to the unmarked George Bruin who slotted home his 8th goal of the season. That finished off the gallant Barns in this entreating & sporting encounter.
