December 2nd, League - Romford Royal "A" 9 Ridgeway Rovers 0
Royals produced their best football of the season with an awesome display of
finishing. Man of the Match Tom Gerbaldi led the way with 4 well taken
goals, including a 1st half hat trick. Bradley Wild was superb in midfield
and also scored a goal in the 1st half as Royals led 4-0 at the break.
Bradley went on to complete his hat trick and goals from Elliot Suett and
Ben Absolon finished the rout. Although the finishing was excellent the
defence also played their part with Daniel Bonny marshalling at the back.
Keeper Steven Hughes even saved a last minute penalty to prevent a
consolation goal from Ridgeway.

Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Brown, Sroka, Absolon, Wild, Gerbaldi, Sangwine,
Suett

November 26th, League - Byron Red Star "A" 1 Romford Royal "A" 1
Byron lost their 100% start to the season following 4 consecutive wins, and
it could have been worse. Royals opened the brightest and created several
chances in the opening 15 minutes as Ben Absolon and Bradley Wild controlled
the midfield. However, Byron opened the scoring against the run of play
following a mix up between the defence.
Ben Absolon had a superb match and fired in shortly afterwards following a
run from the half way line to score a deserved equaliser. Subs Kieran Brown
and Tom Gerbaldi came on early in the 2nd half and gave the Byron defence a
torrid time as Royals dominated but couldn't produce the winner that was
deserved in a battling performance against a physical Byron side.
Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Sangwine, Sroka, Wild, Absolon, Suett, Gerbaldi,
Brown

November 19th, Friendly - Romford Royal "A" 3 Romford Youth "A" 2
Both teams played their part in this entertaining local derby. Royals
started the match very well and put the Chelmsford League side under
pressure right from the kick off. Kieran Brown scored a well taken goal
after 5 minutes and, with Daniel Bonny running the midfield, only a superb
performance from the Youth keeper prevented Royals scoring a hatful.
Ben Absolon was in fine form on the right side of midfield and it was a
deflected goal from his corner that put the home side 2 up. This should have
set Royals up for a comfortable victory but Youth scored from a breakaway to
reduce the arrears just before half time following sloppy marking from the
defence.
Although the 2nd half was closer, Royals still created plenty of chances but
once again were foiled by the keeper. The lively Youth centre forward was a
constant threat and exposed the Royals defence with his pace to fire in the
equaliser. However, Ben Absolon hit a great shot to give Royals back the
lead and that's the way it stayed for a deserved victory. Ryan Sroka was
awarded man of the match with an excellent display, just pipping Ben
Absolon, Kieran Brown and Matthew Ruocco who were all superb.
Royals: Hughes, Ruocco, Sroka, Absolon, Bonny, Brown, Gerbaldi, Sangwine

November 12th, Cup - Marshalls Park 0 Romford Royal "A" 2
After 2 successive defeats, Royals got back to winning ways with a
comfortable victory against a battling Marshalls Park. Royals dominated the
1st half but found the Park goalkeeper in fine form. As the pressure
mounted, Elliot Suett finally made the breakthrough half way through the 1st
half. Daniel Bonny then scored his 1st goal of the season from close range
to put his side 2 up and that's the way it stayed until half time.
The 2nd half was closer as the heavy ground took its toll. Both sides
created chances but the Royals defence held firm to keep a much needed clean
sheet. Kieran Brown was awarded man of the match with a non stop battling
performance in midfield.
Royal: Hughes, Bonny, Wild, Absolon, Gerbaldi, Brown, Suett, Sroka

November 5th, League - Romford Royal "A" 2 Calpe "A" 8
Royals suffered their 1st home defeat of the season against runaway league
leaders Calpe. For the second week running, Royals started very slowly and
conceded 3 sloppy goals in the 1st 15 minutes. The home side then recovered
and struck back with a deserved goal as Tom Gerbaldi fired in from a Bradley
Wild through ball. However, another defensive error let in a 4th for Calpe
just before half time and it was always going to be a struggle at 4-1 down.
Royals dominated the 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd half but failed to finish.
Calpe were clinical with the chances that they had and scored another 4
goals in the last 10 minutes with Joe McEvoy outstanding. In between, Man of
the Match Bradley Wild scored an excellent goal to cap a fine performance.
Although well beaten, every player battled to the end.
Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Sangwine, Absolon, Wild, Sroka, Gerbaldi, Brown
Calpe: Bettridge, Hudgell, Benjamin, Derry, Wilkinson, Msallem, Georgio,
Whitehead

October 29th, League - UPR "B" 5 Romford Royal "A" 1
Royals never recovered from a very sleepy 1st half performance and were
always 2nd best as UPR strolled to victory. The away side defended poorly
throughout the team and were 3-0 down at half time. An improved 2nd half
performance led to several chances being created with Bradley Wild scoring
the consolation goal.
Steven Hughes and Daniel Bonny both had fine games for Royals.
Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Sangwine, Absolon, Brown, Sroka, Suett, Wild

October 22nd, Friendly. - Romford Royal A 4 Snaresbrook A 1
After many weeks of away "road trips", the boys enjoyed a good win in their
first match at home at the Prospect Road ground this season. It was not an
easy game against a strong Snaresbrook side who were East London League
champions last season.
Tom Gerbaldi opened the scoring with a clinical finish from a superb low
cross from Ryan Sroka after 5 minutes. Royals were the better team in the
first half and added a second when Ben Absolon steered home an Elliot Suett
corner. Bradley Wild and Matthew Ruocco held the lively Snaresbrook forwards
at bay with solid defensive performances.
However, Snaresbrook came roaring out in the second half. Only an amazing
performance from Keeper Steven Hughes and the efforts of Daniel Bonny and
Matthew Ruocco prevented a goal. Royals clinical finishing was the
difference between the sides as Bradley Wild rounded the keeper to score the
3rd before Tom Gerbaldi chipped the keeper from 20 yards to secure the win.
Snarebrook finally scored the goal that they deserved with virtually the
last kick of the match.
Royals: Hughes, Wild, Ruocco, Absolon, Suett, Sroka, Gerbaldi, Bonny

October 15th League - Lazer 0 Romford Royal A 4
Royals won their first league match of the season with a fine performance
against a battling Lazer. Ben Absolon hit the 1st with a superb shot from
outside the box to open the scoring mid way through the 1st half as Royals
dominated, but that's how it stayed till halftime.
Striker Elliot Suett scored in the 1st minute of the second half and then
went on the rampage with a superb hat-trick to claim the man of the match
award and the 3 points for his team. However, it was a very good second half
team performance from the boys and everybody played their part.
Royals: Hughes, Sangwine, Bonny, Absolon, Sroka, Gerbaldi, Suett, Wild,
Brown

October 8th (League Cup) - Little Thurrock Dynamos 1 Romford Royal A 1
(Royals win penalty shoot out 2-1 )
Keeper Steven Hughes was the hero for Royals as valiant LTD were defeated in
a penalty shoot out. Royals dominated the 1st half but couldn't find the
net. LTD then scored against the run of play just before half time following
a mix up in the away sides defence.
LTD dug in and defended bravely during the second half. With time ticking
away, Kieran Brown popped up in the box to slot the ball home to take the
match into a penalty shoot out. Bradley Wild and Daniel Bonny scored from
the spot for Royals but it was Steven Hughes who earned the man of the match
award with 3 excellent saves.
Royals: Hughes, Sangwine, Bonny, Brown, Wild, Suett, Gerbaldi, Sroka,
Absolon

October 1st - Pegasus A 3 Romford Royal A 2
Royals were just edged out in a fantastic match. A scrambled goal following
a corner saw Royals go 1-0 down after 5 minutes. However, the away side got
stronger as the match progressed and scored a deserved equaliser just before
half time as Ben Absolon fired in after an excellent through ball from
Elliot Suett.
5 minutes into the second half, Bradley Wild hit a superb long range goal to
give Royals the lead as they took control of the game. However, the match
turned following a clash between keeper Steven Hughes and a Pegasus forward
which resulted in a goal and a knock on the jaw for Steven. With the keeper
still stunned, Pegs took the lead within a few minutes of the re-start.
Royals then laid siege on the Pegasus goal but could not find the equaliser
that was deserved. James Sangwine was named man of the match after a
storming game in defence.
A special thanks to Pegasus who played their part in a great game played in
the right spirit.
Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Sangwine, Absolon, Wild, Sroka, Suett, Gerbaldi

September 17th - Marshalls Park 1 Romford Royal "A" 6

Super Striker Tom Gerbaldi hit a hat-trick as Royals once again hit the goal
trail in a fine team performance. Gerbaldi opened the scoring with 2 goals
midway through the 1st half but Park fought back to reduce the arrears just
before half-time.
However, Royals put on a storming 2nd half display as Kieran Brown scored a
brace, Bradley Wild converted a penalty and Tom Gerbaldi fired in his 3rd
goal in the last minute. Midfielder Ben Absolon won the Man of the Match
award
Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Sangwine, Absolon, Wild, Sroka, Gerbaldi, Brown

September 13th - Leaside 2 Royals 5
Kieran Brown put in a Man of the Match performance against Leaside as Royals
stormed to a 5-2 victory. Elliot Suett continued his goalscoring form with 2
opportunist opening goals and the match was finely balanced at 2-2 just
before halftime.
However, Brown put Royals ahead with a spectacular drive following good work
from Tom Gerbaldi and secured the victory early in the second half with his
2nd. Suett set up Bradley Wild for the 5th in the last few minutes.
Royals: Hughes, Bonny, Sangwine, Suett, Brown, Sroka, Gerbaldi, Wild
