I tried to run away from home,
To hide the pain in endless deeds;
As the cold wind blew, my heart just grew,
Laying bare its true needs.
Then I've found the ocean--a present for me,
To wash me and examine the ailing part;
The restless waves whispered into my ears,
"Tomorrow your journey will start."
There's something special in the air,
Before the bright sun was up;
I was equipped, was ready,
Lookin' forward to reach the top.
Determined to scale that mountain,
To discover what's at its crest;
The trudge seemed so arduous,
But I should give it my best.
I saw him standing at the summit,
He greeted me with the gentle breeze;
Then I realized He'd been waitin' there for so long,
That scene should not be missed.
He sheltered me from cold and harm,
He helped me forget my painful past;
I didn't feel I was far from home,
Because home was where He was.
All the springs my soul has tested,
Failed to meet my deepest need;
He, alone has met my longing,
He has satisfied me indeed!
But sadness began to arise,
When darkness slowly invading the purple sky;
Then He promised, "I'll be with you day and night."
I knew for sure t'was not goodbye.
Oh! I met Him at the mountain crest!
Delighted for the message He tried to impart;
This one He vividly wrote in white on a rainbow,
I will certainly keep forever in my heart:
"To gain life's summit is to be bold to go up,
For much surprises there to be seen;
Along the way there might be rain and pain,
But it's the only way to fulfill you dream."
