The Penn World Tables (also referred to as the Summers-Heston Dataset). One of the most useful datasets for cross-sectional analysis of macroeconomic performance of every country between 1960 and 1985 (Other versions have more recent data as well). Used prominently in Barro & Lee (1991) and Levine & Renault (1991) to test the predictions of the Solow growth model.
