The site owner, Richard Chen, currently works for GE SeaCo- a container leasing company that is the 50/50 joint venture between GE Capital Corporation and Sea Containers combines the container fleet of Sea Containers and Genstar- as Marketing Manager of Taiwan Branch, being responsible for both Sales and Marketing fields.
Having taken an one-year break from the hospitality industry while doing the MBA Marketing degree in Liverpool, the UK, Richard was invited by KPMG to return to Taiwan for the offer of GE SeaCo, and he decided to give it a go as a challenge although he realised this'd be a massive change to his career. His most recent position in the hospitality industry, held from 1999 through 2002, was Assistant Front Office Manager of Grand Formosa Hotel*, the industry leader at that time.
Richard joined Grand Formosa* since 1999 as a receptionist, and worked up through five positions- two promotions and two internal transfer- within three years, namely are: Receptionist (July 1999- January 2000); Front Desk Supervisor (January 2000- May 2000); Assistant Night Manager (May 2000- August 2000); Assistant Marketing Manager (August 2000- January 2001); Sales Manager (January 2001- June 2001), and Assistant Front Office Manager (December 2001- June 2002).
Working in the operation field has built Richard a good leader as well as a good team player; customer encounter has also given Richard the ability to deal with uncertainty and to become a service minded person. During his time in Sales and Marketing, he didn't only create several profitable packages and special offers which have generated significant profits for the inertial market at that time, but also ensured every single programme was implemented under financial budget.
Prior to 1999 he was in the compulsory military service for approximately two years; he was chosen to support Taiwan Army Headquarter secretarial works as a corporal to the commander of financial department. The valuable experience has given Richard the ability of administrative works and filing documents.
Richard gained the MBA Marketing degree from the University of Liverpool in the UK in 2003, and he also has a bachelor's degree in Tourism/ Business Administration from Ming Chuan University.
In addition to editing sites, Richard's also an amateur writer- having had the first writing published in Taiwan in December 2002. Editing site is also part of Richard's interests, since it's a very efficient way to be approached through the various channels. It would be highly appreciated if you may leave your opinion & web address through the guestbook.
