I got my first car in 1968. It was my grandfathers 1950 Plymouth. I was so glad just to have a car. I had it painted by the high school auto shop. I reworked almost all of the interior. The car had an AM radio. I added an 8-Track tape player and 4 speakers. The 8-track tape player was made by AutoMatic Radio. It was a slide mounted plug and play unit. I had it mounted in the dash, behind the glove box door. The whole unit would slide out and also connect to a docking station the house. The car was 6 volts, so I had a 12 volt car battery in the trunk to power the stereo system. I also had an FM stereo radio adapter that would slide into the tape player, like an 8-Track tape and play through the tape player's system.. |
