Yucca or Spanish Bayonet
Yucca fiamentosa
Family: Lily (Liliaceae)
The Spanish Bayonet, with its bristly tussock or rosette of spiky, rigid leaves, is distinctive. The eastern species has loose thread on the leaf margins. The numerous, greenish-white bell-like flowers are on a woody central stalk.
Height: 5 to 10 feet
Found: Sandy soil, sterile gound, dunes and pine barrens.
Blooms: June to September
