A small vine climbing over bushes. Note the short thick cluster of velvety, pealike flowers in leaf axils; maroon or chocolate; very fragrant. Leaves divided into 5 to 7 broad, sharp-pointed leaflets.

Found: Thickets.

Blooms: July to September
