These coarse leaved plants have bell-like flowers, often with dark center, which hang singly from leaf axis, or forks, in stem. Fruit enclosed in a papery bladder formed by sepals. This Smooth variety has diamond-shaped leaves tapering into petioles, often with 1 or 2 blunt teeth. Flower yellow with purplish throat.

Height: 3-5 feet

Found: Woods and clearings.

Blooms: July-September
