Family: Rockrose

Large flowers (3/4 to 1 1/2 in.) with wedge-shaped petals. The leaves are lance-shaped or oblong; 1/2 to 1 1/2 in. long. Flowers yellow, open only in sunlight and last one day. The plant later has mumerous small flowers without petals.

Height: 8-16 inches

Found: Dry open woods, sandy meadows and clearings.
