Family: Iris (Iridaceae)

Stiff, grasslike plants. 6 petals, each tipped with a small point. Fruit a small round pod. Flowers are long stalked and mostly blue-violet. Stems and leaves are flat (less than 1/4 inch wide).

Height: 2-24 inches

Found: meadows and shores.
