The three roundish petals and the arrangement of the flowers in whorls of three are characteristic of the genus Sagittaria. There is much variation in leaf form from broadly arrowhead-shaped to lance-like or grasslike (sometimes within the same species). However grass-leaved arrowhead has lance-like or grasslike leaves only.
Found: Pond edges and shallow water.
