White Milkweed Vine
Sarcostemma clausum

Family: Milkweed (Asclepiadaceae)

Description: Twining, herbaceous, perennial vine that forms entanglements of stems to 10 feet long or more. All parts exude milky sap if broken.The oblong to linear, dark green leaves are opposite and measure 1 to 3 inches long and 3/8 to 3/4 inches wide. Fragrant, hairy, 5-lobed flowers are in rounded clusters, each flower measuring about 3/8 inches wide. The base of each lobe is purple, forming a ring.

Blooms: August to December

Found: Moist soils of hammocks, coastal strand, swamps, and mangroves of central and southern Florida to tropical America.
