Description: Woody perennial from 6 to 24 inches tall with low-spreading, hairy, ascending stems. The needlelike leaves measure 3/8 inch long and 1/16 inch wide and are usually highly aromatic when crushed. Small flowers are in compact, conelike spikes at the branch tips. The upper lip is 3-lobed, and the lower lip is 2-lobed, ranging from lavender to white with purple dots.

Found: Sandy soils from Florida to the Bahamas.
Note: The Miccosukee Indians in southern Florida used this plant as a flavoring in soups. It makes a refreshing tea by steeping the leaves in sweetened water. Bees visit the flowers.
