Salt Marsh Fleabane
Pluchea odorada

Family: Aster (Asteraceae)

Description: Semi-woody perennial shrub to 4 feet tall with fragrant leaves. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate, ranging from 2 - 5 inches long and 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 inches wide, more or less clustered toward the branch tips, with fine, glandular hairs on the lower surface. The scented, pink flower heads are numerous in dense, flat-topped custers.

Blooms: All year

Found: Freshwater and saline marshes of the southeastern United States and tropical America.

Note: This is a supurb butterfly attractor. In salt marshes it attracts Buckeye, White Peacock, Great Southern White, and Florida White butterflies.
