Oceanblue Morning-Glory or Blue Dawn Flower
Ipomoea indica
Family: Morning-Glory (Convolvulaceae)
Description: Twining, herbaceous vine with 2-4 inch heart shaped, hairy, alternate leaves (sometimes 3 lobed). The flowers are a deep blue as they open, and gradually fade to pink as the sun warms them, and finally curl up and disappear usually by afternoon, to be replaced the next morning.
On cool, or foggy days, the blue will last a lot longer. The flowers also have pinkish stripes (nectar guides) radating outward from the floral tube.
Blooms: All year
Found: A wide range of habitats of Florida and the West Indies.
