Moon Flower
Ipomoea alba
Family: Morning-Glory (Convolvulaceae)
Description: Large, twining, herbaceous, perennal vine that may climb 20 feet or more. The stems are smooth or with short, fleshy prickles. The rounded, alternate, heart-shaped leaves are either entire or with 3-5 lobes. Funnel-shaped, white flowers are 3-4 inches wide and produced singly or 2-3 in a cluster. There are greenish nectar guides radating into the throat.
Found: Hardwood hammocks, mangroves, and disturbed sites throughout Florida.

Note: The flowers open after dark and emit a heavy fragrance to attract Sphinx moths and then close shortly after sunrise, hence the common name "Moon Flower".
