Fall Movie Matinees for Seniors
The
Greater Sudbury Public Library will be presenting free Fall Movie Matinees for
Seniors. Three movies will be presented in English and three in French at the
Main Library, 74 MacKenzie Street at 1:00 p.m. on the following Thursdays:

9thrd: My Big Fat Greek Wedding: Romantic Comedy - An unmarried 30-year-old
woman finds herself falling for a non-Greek man, much to the dismay of her
traditional Greek family! Canadian writer and actress Nia Vardalos received an
Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

23rd: La Grande Séduction (French)
October
7th: The Snow Walker: Adventure Drama - Set in 1953, young pilot, Charlie
Halliday, meets a small band of Inuit People and is asked to help a sick young
woman with tuberculosis. However, she becomes the one who ensures they both
survive. Recipient of nine Genie Award nominations including Best Picture. Based
on the novel "Walk Well My Brother" by Farley Mowat.

21st: Le Détour (French)
November
4th: Whale Rider: Drama - A young New Zealand girl challenges tradition and her
rigid grandfather by trying to prove that she's as capable as any boy of
becoming the leader of her people. Actress Keisha Castle-Hughes received an
Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
November
