| Day 6 May 17, 1:26am Rice Consumed: 6 bowls plus nearly 30 rice cakes Approx. Calories I've Consumed In The Last 5.5 Days: 5,500 Well, that's the first time I've been burned by PageBuilder during Rice Week...it happened like three times during Peach Week, so I'm doing relatively good. Rice Week wasn't meant to be a dieting experience, but my caloric intake is pushing it that direction. Creed, an old friend from my days working at Piney Ridge in Arkansas, predicts that my closing weight will be 182 lbs. If I lose 9 lbs this week, I'm taking this diet to the masses. I had intended to be asleep an hour ago, but couldn't drift off due to incessant thoughts of food. First it was pizza. Then burgers. Then kettle corn. And finally, most menacing of all, chicken nachos from Big Ten Burrito, which I think are going to be my first non-rice food on Wednesday. I had considered going with a HUGE burger (or two) and fries from Burger King (traditional American fare, like my PB&J after Peach Week), but am leaning towards the nachos...for now. It's kind of an important decision. After eating nothing but rice for 7 days, you can't break the fast with anything that isn't but the most delicious of edibles. Case in point: when I was a freshman at Arkansas, I didn't eat meat for a month in an effort to get a friend to stop smoking. When I did finally break the meat embargo, it was with a low-quality, pre-formed hamburger from Wal-Mart...I still wish I would have held out for somethign better. Jake's pot pie dream was hilarious...I haven't had any food dreams yet, but did have a quite strange one the other night. It included (but was not limited to) me 1) being punched in the face during the some game show, 2) being accused of stealing a bar stool from a Holiday Inn Hotel, and 3) hosting Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson at a bed & breakfast I owned. Dreams are weird... Day 6 May 17, 10:41am Rice Consumed: Of Little Importance Time Left Until Non-Rice: 25.25 hours Well, the clock keeps ticking to the Zero Hour. I did finally get so sleep, and was not plagued by dreams of delicious foods. I did wake up rather early again, though, putting a kink in my plan to sleep through the rest of the week. In one bit of good news, I have finally found a solution to the online donation debacle. Although the "Make A Donation" button on the site is still inoperable, I have found a working URL link that I will be mass emailing shortly. I tested it using both Internet Explorer and Mozilla, and it all works fine. If you don't get the email link, just send me an email by clicking on the rice cakes above and I'll send it off to you. Click here to check out the causes we've suffered for. All right...now help that thermometer rise! "We're having a heatwave...a tropical heatwave...the temperature's rising, it isn't surprising, we're having a heat-waaavvveeee..." Day 7 May 18, 12:56am Rice Consumed: Rice, What Rice? Pounds Lost During Rice Week: 9 (!!!)...from 191 lbs down to 182 lbs No doubt about the weight-loss affects of Rice Week...bring on the late night infomercials. And we'll call it: The Rice Diet. Or just Riet for short (like riot...which is what you'll want to do after 168 hours of rice). So lunch tomorrow is going to be the chicken nachos, but dinner is up in the air. Hopefully I'll get into Fayetteville at 6:30pm, and can then head off for one of the largest meals of my life...I'm thinking that a pizza would be lovely, but burgers sound nice also. You know, ANYTHING sounds nice at this point. I would probably demolish a jar of mayonnaise...and I hate mayonnaise. Tonight is going to be like Christmas Eve...all giddy about the gifts of the following day. And that first bite of non-rice is going to be a golden gift indeed (like the year I got a Super Nintendo)...what a great year. PAGE 5 |
