Everyone asks me why do people know me as "Hellcat".
Well when girlfriend's fathers asked me or people I didn't know so well, it was a nickname that stuck because I was tough like the WWII fighter plane the Hellcat. But in reality I'm a hellion and cuddly like a cat, so people put it together and I received the nickname about 15 years ago as Hellcat.
The long to short story of how I became a Black Sheep member is; through out my life I was over weight, I mean way over weight, when I was in high school I wanted to get cool and have a girl friend so at the age of 16 I noticed I needed to loose the weight so I hit the gym hard! Well started to run, and eat right, when I was 19 I was weighing in at a bombing 160 lbs, at 6 feet tall. So I looked like Charlie Sheen on a bad day! I decided I wanted to gain size and muscle, so I started to hit the weights hard. I moved down to San Diego from Ventura County around 2001 for work. I was working out at the Chula Vista Bally's and I believe I was doing leg presses, when this big scary looking guy came up to me and said I'm impressed on your lifting, you want to try something new. Well I'm scared shi!less and not knowing what this guy meant I said sure in fear. So that Sunday I went to the training grounds of Bull in South bay Chula Vista. I met a lot of great guys, and learned what a great teacher, mentor, and friend Robert the "Bull" Bullock is. I was accepted right away. After falling on my face for a few months I started to get in the swing of things meeting the rest of the founders of the Black Sheep. Since then I moved back to Ventura County to be with my girl friend and family, which was a good move because I was able to be closer to my family and my father. My father Charles Maurice Goodman died at the age of 56 of a major heart attack last July. So now I lift and throw in memory of my father.
If any one is thinking about throwing in the Highland games, I highly recommend it. Girls dig guys in kilts, and guys that can throw heavy stuff. Remember its not a competition with everyone, it's a competition with your self, your only goal in the games should be, to get PRs. Of course have fun, drink, sweat and bleed!
By the way, never ask Bull why he trains his jaws, because he will show you! My jaw still hurts Bull and I thank you.
