I bought my car in
July 2002. The car was when fine when I bought it, but after a while it started
to burn oil. The guy I bought my car from had sprayed NOS and burnt the the
piston and rings, floated the valves, and fried the clutch. I decided to build
a motor since the motor had to be rebuilt. A naturally aspirated motor was
my Christmas gift to myself for 2002.
Skunk
2 cams, valves, springs, and retainers
were chosen for the top. JDM Civic Type-R piston and rings were also chosen
for the bottom end. The head was ported and polished locally by AMS (Advanced
Motor Sports). The engine was balanced as well to prolong longevity. Since
I was throwing out the motor the Neuspeed suspension was also replaced by
a Tein Super Street Damper coilover setup.
This was great for a while but nothings lasts forever
as I would soon learn. I brought my car for an oil change in February 2003
and they forgot to add oil. This resulted in my motor locking up. I could
not afford to fight this in court and decided to put a new motor and move
on with life. Currently I have a JDM B16 Si-R motor. This is the Japanese
equivalent of the American version of my car. It is not as fast as before,
which is disappointing but is still fun to drive.
The other modifications to my car include:
- A'PEXi V-AFC: for fine tuning the fuel &
air curves along with adjusting when the VTEC kicks in
- AEM fuel pressure regulator
- B&M fuel pressure gauge
- Neuspeed short shifter
- Polyurethane bushings for the motor mounts
- Razo carbon fiber pedals
