School Instrument Rentals
Rentals for Beginners
Sometimes used instruments are donated to the middle school band and are avaliable for a one year rental.  If you are unable to provide your band student hopeful with an instrument please contact me at [email protected].  I will rent the instruments out free for one school year at a time on a first come first served basis.  You will need to sign a contract stating that if the instrument is damaged during your rental it will need to be repaired or replaced before you return it to the school.  Renting through the school is a great way to get a used intsrument free.  The following instruments are avaliable for 2009-10.
3 Clarinets (sorry all rented for this year) 9/9
2 Trumpet (sorry all rented this year) 9/9

Rentals for Intermediate Players

The band is in need of low brass and low woodwind players. Please contact me if you already play an instrument in band and would like to try one of the following instruments.  You will be eligible for a free one year rental through the school!  I will help you a few times after school to get you ready to play your new instrument with confidence!
Trumpet players can switch to baritone easily and any clarinet or sax player can switch to tenor sax or bass clarinet.  The following instruments are ready to play this year!

1 Bass Clarinet
2 Baritone Horns
1 Tenor Sax
What is a Baritone, a Bass Clarinet and a Tenor Sax????
A Baritone is a low brass instrument.  It plays exactly like a trumpet, but is MUCH bigger in size.  Due to it's size, it is much lower in pitch than a trumpet.  Trumpet players usually find the switch to Baritone quite easy.  Many professional trumpet players play baritone and flugal horn as well as trumpet.
The bass clarinet is played exactly the same way a clarinet is played.  It looks like a cross between a saxophone and a huge clarinet!  It is very low in pitch. Clarinet players usually have no trouble switching to this low woodwind instrument!
Tenor saxophone is played the same way an alto sax is played.  The fingerings and the feel of the reed are the same.  Tenor sax is much bigger than the alto and is therefore lower in pitch.  Alto sax players usually have no trouble switching to tenor.  Clarinet players will like the familiar reed but may have trouble with the new fingerings and large size at first.
