Each year the LMS Jazz Band attends a full day field trip to the Great East Band Festival in Massachusetts. The eighth grade / advanced band may also attend if they earn it with good behavior, hard work and practice.
The trip starts as we perform for judges at a high school or college in Mass. The judges critique our performance and award us a medal based on our level of achievement. After the performance, workshop and awards ceremony, we travel to Six Flags New England for some well deserved fun. A great chance to perform for judges in a non-competitive setting!
What do I bring to Great East/Six Flags?!
1) Money for lunch at McDonald's and dinner at Six Flags. Keep all money on you at all times!
2) A small bag with a sweatshirt in case it gets cold at the park. Something to do on the bus. Remember ipods, phones and other expensive electronics are allowed but you bring them at your own risk.
3) No cases, bags, purses or backpacks are allowed into the school where we are performing. These items must be left on the bus! All you are allowed to bring in is your instrument all put together, music and yourself.
4) Please wear jeans or shorts and sneakers and any shirt to school. LMS t-shirts will be handed out Friday morning and we will use the LMS lavs to change before boarding the buses. Don't wear shorts if you tend to get cold.
