THE MOST... for SUPERLATIVE.

Comparative of superiority (L O N G words):

Mercedes is MORE expensive THAN Volkswagen.

Silk is MORE delicate THAN cotton.


SUPERLATIVE
:

ADJECTIVES ending in -Y, -ER, -LE, -OW.

FRIENDLY = FRIENDLIER OR MORE FRIENDLY.

NARROW= NARROWER OR MORE NARROW.

GENTLE= GENTLER OR MORE GENTLE.

TENDER= TENDERER OR MORE TENDER.

-All two syllable adverbs ending in –LY that DO NOT have an adjective homonym also ending in –LY take periphrastic MORE:

MORE slowly

MORE brusquely

MORE sharply
