BABY BOMBSHELL FOR GH SONNY

Sonny learns the truth about Kristina this week on GH, when Carly confesses that he is the father of Alexis' critically ill daughter.

"The way it play's out is great, because it's unexpected," enthuses Maurice Benard (Sonny). While Sonny "is shocked and devastated," he stays calm. "Sonny doesn't yell. He asks, 'How long have you known?' Carly says, 'February'. Then he leaves. He goes straight to the hospital, because Kristina is dying."

 Sonny, Courtney and Mike are all tested as potential bone marrow donors for Kristina, but they aren't a match.CHrushed, Sonny heads to Kristina's hospital room, were he encounters Alexis.

"[The scene] is not what you'd think," muses Benard. Sonny makes it clear that he is going to be a father to Kristina, but "they don't go off on each other. There is a lot underneath. My knees were shaking taping it."

Later, Sonny and Carly present a united front against Alexis and Ric after Morgan is ruled out as a possible donor. But it's a front in every sense of the word, because Sonny implies that their marriage is kaput.

Meanwhile, Alexis who is determined to fight Sonny, marries Ric in a quickie ceremony in the hospital chapel. Sonny, however, quickly warns the newlyweds that nothing will keep him out of Kristina's life.

As Kristina's condition worsens, Steven informs Sonny and Alexis that the little girl could be saves by using stem cells from Sam's umbilical cord. When Sam refuses to consent to the procedure-it poses a risk to her baby-Sonny breaks the news to Ric and Alexis. They accuse Sonny a valuing Sam's unborn baby more than Kristina.

"Sonny is going through betrayal, obviously-the lies from his wife and Alexis," sighs Benard. "now Kristina is dying. He's got decisions to make, weather  he wants to save one child and risk the other. It's an emotional roller coaster."
