The most debated character in the GW series, Relena is both loved and hated by fans! Why? Because Gundam Wing did a poor job explaining how Relena is NOT the snobby rich girl that we all tend to think, but a kind, yet stubborn girl in a lot of pain. Think about it...she has no friends what so ever (that truely care for her, anyways...and not using her) because of her social statis, people are constantly adoring her, and acting so formal around her. No one sees her for the 'person' she is but of some idol...even when she's not a leader of a Kingdom, nor a federation...Relena doesn't get a chance to be herself. She puts others and her ideals of peace before her self, and that's how she earns my respect.
Although I am against Relena and Heero as an item. They are just too alike to be sharing their lives together....( think 1+2, 1+2) and they both work so hard as it is, when would they see each other? I am just not a fan of R+1.

The whole "Relena stalks Heero" thing is also false. Relena respects Heero, because in a way, they are both alike. She fears for his safety, and only in the first couple of episodes she goes and sees how he's doing. Never again does she follow him around...no...he comes after her...to kill her/save her. And, Heero is the only friend she has ever had. He is the only one she has felt she could relate to, and of course she may do drastic things like wishing for her own death, just to see her friend. She's only fifteen years old....she may not even care if she dies...because

either way she's stuck into serving the universe or death. Does she complain that all this responsibility is handed to her...no. Does she do her best to maintain her goals...yes. Can she be a little annoying...yeah.

Relena's bubblyiness is what annoys me. She's not as bad as Sailor Moon (no offense, I use to be a huge fan, but no more....) I'll give her that, but all that pink...oh, it drives me crazy. (I've never really been a fan of girl-ie type shows/characters that much) You got to at least give her the fact she isn't whiney!

Relena is a very strong character that represents the earth and the "peaceful" ideals well! Although, there are my moments when I watch GW I'm probably saying, "What are you thinking?" But, when I think about it again....under all that stress and pressure of losing your father, gaining a brother, and finding a friend while ruling a country, I may not have handled it as well as she did.
