You can get to Ribera Norte by various means:
By car: Drive to Acassuso
along Av. del Libertador avenue. Turn towards river at Perú street.
The road will take you down the embankment. Cross the Tren de la Costa
railway line (just alongside "Barrancas" station). Turn left
and follow railway line for some 300 meters. At first opportunity turn
right (Almafuerte street). Some 50 meters ahead this street ends at La
Ribera (ex Av. El Fomentista) street. Turn left and do 150 meters. Note
the elevated earth dyke on your right. The reserve
begins just on the side of it. You will reach the
gates and see the large wooden signpost (photo below).
Parking: Just leave your car on the side of the road. Its best
to lock it.
By train:
Option 1:
Tren de la Costa railway until Barrancas station. From there its
a 5 to 10 minutes walk (see Map 2).
If you are in BA you will have to first connect to the Tren de la Costa
terminal. For this you can take a train from Retiro station in downtown
BA. Enter the large Mitre railway station building (closest to Plaza San
Martin). This system of railway lines, formerly known together as the
"Mitre line", is now run by a privatised company, TBA. Trains
leave from this terminal to various destinations, so make sure you take
the proper train: it should be indicated as going to "Bartolomé
Mitre" station, as indicated by the signpost on the platform.
Colloquially known as the train going to "Mitre" (pronounced
Me-tray). But beware of confusions since, strictly speaking, all destinations
from this terminal are part of the (old) Mitre system! Stay on the train
till the end, about 30 minutes ride to Bartolomé Mitre station.
Get off the train and cross Maipú avenue. It is advisable here
to cross using the mechanical escalators and bridge, which will take you
right into the Tren de la Costa terminal. Buy your fare and get on the
first train. Travelling time to Barrancas station should be about 10 minutes.
Option
2:
Take the train to Acassuso station of the Retiro-Tigre line. (See instructions
above, but this time take train marked to TIGRE, which usually depart
from lanes 1 or 2). Get off at Acassuso station (about 35 minutes ride).
Locate Peru street (railway crossing next to the station) and walk to
the reserve (approx. 15 to 20 blocks). Or you can take a cab at the railway
station.
By bus ("colectivo"):
Lines 437 or 168
If you take line 168 get off on block numbered 15,400 of Libertador avenue
and walk down López y Planes street.
By bicycle : A pleasant
and interesting way to get to Ribera Norte is along the pedestrian/bicycle
track that runs alongside the Tren de la Costa line starting at Paraná
street. This will take you to Barrancas station. From here follow map.
At the reserve the is a convenient place were you can safely leave your
bicycle
