short but sweet...i guess i was lucky this teacher was an idiot, because this was really horrible to read over...lots of these old essays are like that...anyway, this teacher once mentioned in class that we have no idea why the moon looks bigger on the horizon, and i was like "oh no you did not just say that" so i went home and discussed it with my dad and the next day i brought in a diagram to help illustrate the reason why the moon looks bigger on the horizon...that was just too too excellent right there...

back when i wrote this i believe i'd heard something about using 0g to advance cancer research, but i haven't heard much else about it...i know they're still doing a lot of 0g research, that's about all they're doing up there...back in the 60's, you know, back when the Jetsons were on the air, the original timetable, the one they had when Apollo 11 landed on the moon, said that by the year 2000 there would definitely be a colony on the moon and most likely Mars also...they must run on Walt time =P...

back when my dad had pentagon clearance, he signed up to be one of the first civilians to go into space...he's still waiting...

it's not like Mars would be all that hard to terraform, just take up a few trees to eat up the CO2, dig a little, heat up the core to melt some of that underground water...no problem...

the problem is, and this is why i like the movie Apollo 13, that the general public just isn't as interested in space as they used to be, especially now that the irrational anger and prejudices against Russia are all but gone, like that was all that was fueling space exploration, that damned "race"...it's always gotta be about who's better than who, can't we go just cuz we're curious?...

we're always talking about buying up an island or colonizing the moon, somewhere where we can build our own society, try something other than capitalism, something more utopian...not many places left to do that on Earth, and the chances that "the man" is gonna let us on the moon without sticking his nose in our business...slim to none...

such a shame...

where are my flying cars? i was *promised* flying cars!...
