The wild beast within cannot be controlled
How can you ask the wolf
Not to tear the flesh off the deer
How can you tell the panther
Not to rip the meat off the bison
How can you beg the vampire bat
Not to drink the blood of her mortal foes
The fools that try soon find themselves
Trapped in the chilling grasp of fangs, claws and talons
It is impossible to tether such creatures
But trappers, hunters, circus ring masters
They refuse to learn the lessons that nature teaches
A vampire bat I know once said
'We don't live to kill, we kill to live'
Some of us have learned the lesson
We hear more than just the words
Others...those who choose to ignore them
Soon learn how paying the price becomes a fact of life
The vampire bat I know
She is powerful, and all too deadly
It makes one wonder if the prey
Knowing or unknowingly volunteered for the job
Such illogical, unwise creatures
That lay before their predators, defenseless
Such creatures that wish for slow
Painful, torturous deaths
An irony to them
The predator will enjoy the feast
