Here's my deal, in a nutshell:
I'm going to send a dollar or two to select individuals who have been bullied into cash settlements by the RIAA.
No particular qualifications for earning my donation...if you're a college student from an upper-middle class family, you're on your own. If you're a 72 year old grandfather, or a 12 year old girl who lives with her single mother in the projects in New York, you're probably gonna' be getting a dollar or two from me.
Why? Because I hope others follow my lead and help out some of these folks...the ones who can least afford to defend themselves and who can least afford these settlements...by sending just a dollar or two to them. If enough people send the 12 year old's mom a dollar each, she'd recoup her $2000 settlement pretty quickly...and maybe even have enough left over to buy everyone in her apartment building a "Boycott RIAA" t-shirt. If she gets 6 or 7 times in donations what she had to pay the RIAA....so what?!? They've already settled, so they can't come back and get more...and maybe her kids will have a VERY merry Christmas this year.
If YOU'VE been bullied into settling with the RIAA and would like me to post your mailing info here, feel free to e-mail me. Once I've confirmed that you've actually reached a settlement with the RIAA, and if, in my opinion (which is pretty arbitrary), you're deserving...I'll send you a check for a dollar or two...plus I'll post your info here so others can do the same.
I won't post home addresses out of security concerns. Either submit a P.O. Box or set up an account at a bank and give me THAT mailing address to post.
Include any contact info in your e-mail you'd like...but be aware I will NOT post your home address. I do, however, need a way to contact you to verify your info.
For those of you wishing to help these folks out, please don't e-mail me for my address so you can send your money to me. I don't want it. There are people far more deserving than me, and I don't want there being any question as to my intentions. If you choose to send money, send it directly to the people who need it.
