| In 1980, Jonathan was born in Ottawa, Illinois into a very musical and ministry oriented family. Growing up in a little town called Newark, his love for music was sparked even more as he watched his parents lead worship in various churches and congregations around the Chicago area. At age 9 his parents bought him a drum set and before they knew it, he was making more noise than they knew what to do with. In '91 Jon's family moved to north Georgia where he was involved in various student praise bands around the area. After graduating high school, he attended Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX, where he studied theology, music, media, and spent a short time taking drum lessons from professional drummer/percussionist Bart Elliott. He also spent his time in Dallas playing with his brother, Ben, now the music ministries director at Lakeshore Community Church in Rockwall, TX. After completing one year of school, he returned home, and has continued to further his experience through involvement in several local churches in the north Georgia area. He currently resides in Gainesville, GA, and plays full time with the Chris Orr Band. With the influences of some good 'ol rock'n'roll like the Foo Fighters, Switchfoot, Poor Old Lu, Fleming and John (and the list goes on....) he has had opportunity to be involved in the recording of Kasey Curtis' debut CD "The Deep End," featured in the indie section of CCM Magazine (August 2000). He has also performed both live and in the studio with local bands Beyond Twelve, Luxe, and other personal side projects. He is looking forward to recording with the Chris Orr Band in the fall of 2004. "God has put a passion in my soul for music and a fire in my heart to teach young people how to worship. I've learned many things through past experiences, and hope to continue to grow both musically and in spiritual knowlege and wisdom. Psalm 139 says that God knows me, inside and out, and He will always take care of me... to me that is the most comforting hope of all." |
