BRRL 019 THEY STOLE A MILLION: The City That Day CD
Release date: April 2005

Turku , Finland based They Stole A Million kickstarted in 2003 with their assaulting debut 7” single Idle and are now back with their first full-length album, The City That Day. A re-recorded version of the classic debut a-side is featured on the album, along with eight other tracks of punchy, yet melodic punk rock.

The City That Day is the kind of punk rock album that most, if not all punk rock albums ought to be: short, compact, tight, good-sounding and well-written. From the opener Room 36 to the serene storm of Song That Fails, the album showcases They Stole A Million’s own brand of punk, stemming from straight-forward old school stuff, melodic punk pop and more recent “emo” type inspirations.

The City That Day is the perfect introduction to the world of They Stole A Million. The quintet’s trademark features are all over the record: the intricate guitar lines, singer Mirko Metsola’s desperate howls and the overall melancholia. But despite the bleak horizons, there is a tone of hope in the songs, a ray of light in the dark of man.
