| Biography N'lani is tall and fine boned, with delicate features, though in truth she is not the least bit delicate. She is rather pretty, with exotic features. her apperance is rather unique and unusual, because of her mixed Andorial/Terran heritage. Her skin is mostly pink, but has a slight blue tinge, like the skin of Vulcans' has a slighty green tinge. one of her most unusual features are her antennas. N'lani could almost be taken for a human, except for her antennae. Her hair is short, and is a silvery white with just a touch of blue. Her eyes are a dark forest green. N'lani was "created" as a result of a genetic experiment by an unknown being. If not for the Starfleet scount ship that picked her up everal months later, she would have died. The scout arrived to find a planet empty of all higher life-forms except for the two month old baby. they found the laboratory, but no sign or records of who had created her. After being rescued, she was shipped back to Starfleet Headquarters for investigation. Multiple test confirmed that she was not genetically enhanced, and that she was just a combination of Andorian and Terran. The Andorians shunned her as an abomination, and it was difficult to find a human family to adopt her. Finally, shortly after her first birthday, she was adopted by an artist, Mena, who had a husband Darryl, who worked as a history professor at Starfleet Academy. They already had two sons, Jacob and Andy (twins), and one daughter, Julia. Her siblings quickly took her into the family, and her older brothers, six at the time, constantly tried to protect her from anything. Nevertheless, she still suffered from constant teasing at school as she grew older. Because of her more violent Andorian half, she often had trouble controlling her emotions. One particularly violent encounter acted as a catalyst, causing her to become reclusive and quiet, staying away from others. Even so, she had trouble controlling her angerm and often took it out when no one was looking. She found the greatest joy in rock-climbing. Her light boudy-stature and strong, triple jointed fingers especially suited her to this sport. N'lani's ability was great enough to equal or succeed that of many older than her. When she was thirteen, she climbed El-Capitan for the first time. On her rare breaks from school she would head out to one of her favorite rock-climbing places, sometimes even bring schoolwork along, and spend up to days at a time. Her parents disliked her going off by herself, but they could do little to stop her, N'lani also enjoyed archery, and excelled nearly as much in that sport as she did in rock-climbing. The hand-and-eye coordination she developed during archery helped her to become extremely accurate with a phaser later on. Throughout her childhood she was regarded as somewhat of a problem chief by other adults and teachers. this was not because of her academics and participation in sparts, which were excellent, but because of her behavior problems, and later, the fact that she rarely communicated or worked with others. N'lani saw Starfleet as a way to escape, and contribute in in her own way. She appealed to the Captain of a scout ship who had first rescued her, and he decided to sponsor her application. Despite this, her application into Starfleet Academy was difficult because of her behavior. She had had a minor legal issure with the fact of wheather she was genetically enhanced or not, but that was quickly cleared up. Her brothers and sisters were glad that she had found something she wanted to do, and some place where she could expend her energy in a positive way. Her parents were also supportive. The first year into the Academy, she went through some personality changes, after realizing what she needed to be more like to become a Starfleet officer. Though she did not undergo a complete transformation overnight, she made enough of an effort to impress her teachers. N'lani found her personality and ability was best suited to security and in her second year switched to a security track. During her years at the Academy she came close to getting in trouble several times, and had several close brushes with authority. She made few friends, but did not particularly try to gain any either. In her third year, she because the head of Starfleet Academy's rock-climbing club, and made several changes which caused it to become more successful. N'lani also won several archery competitions and became known as nearly unbeatable champion at the dartboard. Four years later she graduated near the top of her class. |

| Position Description The Chief of Operations Officer has the primary responisbility of ensuring that the ship functions, such as the use of the lateral sensor array, do no interfere with one and another. S/he must prioritize resource allocations, so that the most critical activities can have every chance of success. if so required, s/he can curtail shipboard functions if s/he thinks they will interfere with the ship's current mission or routine operations. Also as second offcer, s/he will take the XO or CO chair as needed or ordered. The Chief of Operations is a Department head, and a member of the Senior Staff. |
