Sat. July 26, 2003 - Home of  Jannette Rafferty in Cassopolis, MI
The 9 members & 1 guest who attended the July luncheon all agree it was the nicest and most elegant meal we have had yet to date! Jannette and her sister-in-law, Ardie out did themselves in preparing for this month's meeting. We welcomed a guest, Barb Price, from Goshen. She became a member that day paying her dues and even volunteering to host the May meeting next year! Thank you Barb! Anyone wishing to volunteer for a month next year, let me know.

Now to tell you about the day! Janette's cheerful husband was dressed in a purple shirt and red ball cap directed us to our parking spot and welcomed us to their home on Diamond Lake. Upon settling inside their living room, Ardie and Jannette served us all sparkling pink punch in champagne glasses complete with a slice of lemon and cherry! We all pretended to get intoxicated and acted our usual silly selves and caught up on each other since the last time we had met. We also got to know our new member, Barb.

Soon Jannette invited us to the kitchen area where she had the most beautiful table set with a decorated red hat as a centerpiece. We all picked up a bamboo type serving tray with beautiful silverware and burgundy napkins in a red & purple butterfly ring. Stemmed cups were given to us for the fresh fruit cup which was in a large beautiful compote. A large basket held buttery soft crossants and large crystal serving bowls held a seafood salad, orzo pasta salad and chicken salads. We took our trays outside where an elegant table was set with fresh wildflowers in vases and gift favors were at each setting. Beverages were served outside in a bucket of chilled ice.  After we all had our fill of all the scrumptious food, Jannette wanted to stuff us some more with pecan pie made by Ardie.

What a fine day it was and the weather was perfect! After sharing stoires and gabbing, which we do best, we all retreated inside where Jannette showed us her home and then proceeded to grace us with her talents by playing the piano and organ. What a talented lady we have in our midst. She is so creative!

A neighbor next door came to the edge of his deck to take our photo. And yet another neighbor asked if we wanted a pontoon boat ride. A few of us had to leave early so I don't  know if the rest of the group ever got that ride or not. All in all, I think it was one of the best days we have had yet! Thanks Jannette and Ardie for working so hard to put it all together. I hope we gathered enough donations in the cup to show our apreciation.
Janet & Ellen drinking our mock champagne,
we certainly have the gift of gab!
Naughty Jannette wearing only a tad of purple. We'll forgive her "this time."  Next time, it's the dungeon!
Ardie, is that really punch you have there?
Betty M., Sandra & Sondra in their beautiful attire.
Doris & new member, Barb, enjoy the company.
