| STUDENTS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING (SADD) Membership in SADD is open to all 9th - 12th grade students. The purpose of this organization is to promote awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drinking and driving. The members plan and participate in the Nationwide Prom Promise Campaign and sponsor various other awareness activities throughout the school year. Advisor: Mrs. Kaminsky |
| LIBRARY CLUB Library Club, better known as the Library Assistants, is a service club of Richalnd High School. Each member helps in the library in order to make it easier for students to find the books desired, and to serve as a model to the other students in library courtesy. Most of the bulletin boards and displays are arranged by this group. The members also do such jobs as mending books, filling books and magazines in order. The Library Assistants have regular meetings and serveral social events during the year. Advisor: Ms. Murphy |
| CHEERLEADING Any student in good academic standing is eligible to participage in the cheerleading squad. Cheerleaders perform at football, basketball and wrestling matches in addition to various competitions. Advisor: Ms. Costlow |
| KEY CLUB The Key Club is a service organization sponsored by The Geistown-Richland Kiwanis Club. The Key Club conducts a variety of projects to better our school and community. Students who are willing to work together as they help others should consider joining the Key Club. Advisor: Mrs. Wyatt |
| Math Club The Math Club is open to any sophomore, junior or senior interested in a career in mathematics, or areas of mathematics not discussed in regular math courses. The club has its meeting once a month. During the year, each member is expected to give a report on some phase of mathematics. The officers consist of: president, vice president, secretary, assistant secretary-parliamentarian and treasurer. The offices are elected at the first meeting of the year. |
| MU ALPHA THETA The Mu Alpha Theta is an international honorary club for high school and junior college students who excel in the field of mathematics. Richland is one of three local schools to be granted a charter on the basis of its mathematics program. The members of the Mu Alpha Theta are selected from existing members of the Math Club. Each inductee must have maintained an A-B average in mathematics since ninth grade. Annually, the Mu Alpha Theta inducts quialified junios and seniors into the club with a tradutional cremony. |
| Drama Club The Richland High School Drama Club offers students an opportunity to participate in a unique human experience. Many Richland students love putting on a play. Auditions for the play are held the last week of September, and the production is mounted the week before Thanksgiving. All students are welcome to participate. Actors, stage cre, lighting crew, program designers, publicists, ushers, painters, and set construction crew are needed. For excitement, nothing beats the Drama Club. |
| NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Paragon Chapter of the National Honor Society of Secondary Schools The objective of the Honor Society is to: create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in pupils of Richland High School. Membership in the chapter is based on: scholarship, service, leadership and character. Candidates for membership shall have spent at least one semester in Richland High School, and shall be members of the junior or senior class. |
| Mock Trail Team Students on the mock trial team prepare a legal defense and prosecution for a specific case. The team competes against other area schools in court cases held at the Cambria County Court House in Ebensburg. Advisor: Mrs. Kiniry |
| Reading Team The team reads 50 books (as a team, not "individually") and exhibits their knowlege in a large Jeopardy-type competition. The team will only be active for the fall event. Advisor: Ms. Murphy, Mrs. Casper, Mrs. Sloat |
