Biography
Ron Woods has taught vocal and instrumental level at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels for the past five years. In his first year with Ramona Unified School District, he is teaching choral music at Ramona High School and Olive Peirce Middle School. He has also been involved in church music for the past eight years. He is currently the Director of Music at the First Congregational Church of Santa Ana. Mr. Woods' formal training began at University of California at Santa Cruz, where he received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1993. He earned a teaching credential in choral music from California State University of Long Beach in 1997, and is currently working on a Masters Degree in education. He is a long-time member of the American Choral Directors Association, California Music Educators Conference, and Orange County Chapter of the Choral Conductors Guild.
Philosophy
The Ramona High School Choral Music student will study singing technique, theory and musicianship, vocal ensemble experience, diction in English and other languages, understanding of musical styles, stage movement, and choreography.
Ensembles and individuals will have the opportunity to enter competitions for trophies, plaques, prizes and scholarships. All students will be given ample opportunity to perform, both individually and in a variety of choral ensembles. The choral music staff is dedicated to giving each student the highest possible level of education. The ultimate goal of the program is to produce talented and capable musicians who will earn outstanding college and university recommendations, command attention in the world of professional music, and develop a lifelong appreciation and love for all the arts. |
