On Friday, Oct. 13th, there will be a Fan Convention which will run from noon to midnight. The event will be held at CIRCUS CIRCUS. On Saturday, Oct. 14th, the MAIN EVENT sponsored by 20th Century Fox will be held at THE HARD ROCK HOTEL. The people behind the upcoming Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show have finally confirmed most of the leading players for their production, which is set to open on November 13th at the Circle in the Square Theater. Although there are no proven box office draws in the leading roles, the cast is shaping up as an eclectic mix of theater pros, pop culture icons and lesbian role models. Joan Jett, Dick Cavett, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Alice Ripley, Jarrod Emick and Lea DeLaria have all been confirmed as castmembers. The biggest question mark at this point is who will play Rocky, the hunky creation of Dr. Frank 'n' Furter. Bernard Telsey Casting, who is handling the show, has even begun placing ads in HX and other gay bar magazines looking for bodybuilders who can sing. For more information go to http://www.broadway.com and do a search for "Rocky Horror." ------------------------------------------------------------------ NEW ROCKY HORROR CD'S RELEASED To coincide with the 25th anniversary, You can expect a myriad of new CD's and re-releases. Already announced is a special 25th Anniversary CD Set. The first of the two CDs is all of the Rocky songs, some from the film, the others from unspecified cast recordings. The second CD seems to be a combination of foreign cast recordings and Rocky Horror "rarities." It seems that these CD's are just a re-release of stuff from the 15th Anniversary Boxset, so if you have that already, save your money. Also announced... from Castle Communications: A re-release of the Roxy Cast soundtrack with changes to the cover and liner notes. For those who don't know this was the first US stage version of "The Rocky Horror Show." It starred Tim Curry, along with most of the performers who would eventually go on to star in RHPS. Details are sketchy at this time but it seems that a re-release of the 1981 Australian Cast soundtrack may also be in the works. I'll keep my ear open for more information. ------------------------------------------------------------------ RICHARD O'BRIEN WRITING ROCKY HORROR SEQUEL. As posted at imdb.com Richard O'Brien, who wrote the original "Rocky Horror Picture Show", is writing a sequel, the New York Post reported. It quoted O'Brien as saying that he expects to complete the script by March and that he has already written six new songs for it, including one titled "Bitching in the the Kitchen." The book is set nine months after the end of the original, O'Brien said, and opens with the heroine, Janet, pregnant by either Dr. Frank N. Furter, Frank's creation, Rocky, or Janet's boyfriend, Brad Majors. Eventually Dr. Furter is revealed to be the father. "There's a lot of good stuff to be wrung out of having a dysfunctional father like him," O'Brien told the Post. "He's not going to have a conservative upbringing." O'Brien also wrote what he now calls a "spin-off" of Rocky, "Shock Treatment", which flopped when it was released in 1981. It also included a musical number called "Bitchin' in the Kitchen." **************************************************** LOCAL NEWS - EUGENE **************************************************** ACE TO PRODUCE THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW According the Jim Roberts of ACE, Actor's Cabaret of Eugene will again be producing "The Rocky Horror Show" this fall. This year's production will feature a returning cast from their last run of the show 2 years ago. However, they do have a few openings in the Chorus (Phantoms). The play with performed on weekends October 27th through November 4th. There will also be two special shows on Halloween. While this year, they haven't been decimated by cast members graduating and moving on, there are a couple of openings in the cast. And as always, Trannies are always needed and appreciated.
