And with it, graduation exercises. Forbidden Fruit are saying goodbye to 3 graduating cast members, Torey Mulvany (Frank), Jessica Obrist (Columbia), and Randi Budd (Magenta). Torey (aka Mrs. Schmenkman) was a theatre major at the UO. She joined Forbidden Fruit in 1998 to play Magenta and was promoted to Frank in 1999. She will always be known to this reporter as the woman who turned Magenter into an East German Dominatrix for the 1998 Pre-show. Upon graduation she plans on taking Broadway by storm. Jessica (aka Joey Jo Jo Junior Xabadu) was a journalism major at the UO. She joined Forbidden Fruit in 1997 as Columbia. Since that time she has proven to be the best Columbia in the history of Rocky in Eugene (sorry Jim). After graduation she plans on moving to Seattle. Watch out VTC, here she comes. Randi joined Forbidden Fruit in 1998 as a Trannie and was promoted to Magenter when Torey took the role of Frank. The next show for Forbidden Fruit will be on Halloween 2000. Most likely in the EMU Ballroom. Meanwhile, this reporter will be approaching local theatres to find a regular theatre gig for Forbidden Fruit. **************************************************** LOCAL NEWS - PORTLAND **************************************************** 28TH CABARET LEADERS ELECTED By Steff Ferguson Congratulations to the three fools...err...winners of the 28th EC Elections. Your 28th Executive Council Elect are: Mr Balo, affectionately referred to as "MacGyver", your President. Miss Stacee No-No as your willing and eager Director. And, Lucky me, I have once again been elected Secre-torian. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CLINTON STREET CABARET LOSES WEBSITE By Mike Tchou As many of you know, I have been in federal court for roughly four years, trying to hold onto a domain name (www.epix.com) which I used entirely for the support of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Clinton Street Cabaret, and the Clinton Street Theater. About 2 weeks ago, the Federal District Court in Portland Oregon ruled that my domain name was to be transferred to my opponents for the duration of this lawsuit. My attorney tells me that the ruling caught him completely by surprise. He didn't even know that the domain name was at risk until he accepted an unscheduled telephone call from the Court and was told to surrender the name. The transfer of my domain name (www.epix.com) to my adversaries was completed by Network Solutions at approximately 12:01 AM , Saturday, 03-June-2000. From now until the trial is held, (and maybe forever) if you put "www.epix.com" into your browser, you will be taken to a web page owned and operated by EPIX Inc. of Buffalo Grove Ill. I have obtained a replacement domain name for "www.epix.com." The new name is not nearly so good, nor as descriptive. But it's slightly better than nothing at all. The new name is: "www.tmib.org". I'll be trying to update the old HTML...to get some of the original web pages back up...but it will be at least several months until things start to look like the old web site. All of these pages will need to be hand-edited and tested. In the meantime, you can also find alternate websites for the Clinton Street Cabaret at the following URL's: http://www.rockypdx.org http://www.angelfire.com/or/rockyhorror/index.html -------------------------------------------------------------------- 'LIVE NUDES GIRLS' RETURN TO PORTLAND by Malina Just when you thought it was safe to bring your little brothers and sisters to Rocky; "Live Nude Girls," Portland's very own 'Adults Only' cast, has scheduled their second performance this year, and the date to mark on your calendar, and cancel all other plans for, is Saturday August 26th. Ticket prices are to be $7 in advance, and $8 at the door. Tickets will be available at the theater by the first Saturday in August, at the latest. We still have some particulars to work out, but first and foremost, we need a CAST, and PRESHOWS! There is already a female "full monty" preshow in the works, and if you'd like to be involved with that, or the cast, or have a preshow idea of your own, PLEASE contact me at your earliest convenience, so we can get this show on the road. Details are forthcoming, but if you have any questions at all, please email me here: malina@popstar.com **************************************************** EDITORIAL **************************************************** THINK BEFORE YOU AUDITION By Mike Bennett Every year I hear the same thing. "I thought it would be fun when I joined the cast, but attending Rocky and performing has turned more into a job rather than 'an adventure'." And herein lies the mis- conception that most people make. Going to Rocky Horror is *fun;* BUT being a cast member is first and foremost *work.* When you join a cast you become responsible for the entertainment of the movie patrons . For this responsibility, you are expected to work long hard hours both on stage and off, perfecting your talent. You are, for the most part, expected to pay for and provide your own costumes and incidental props. And the only payment you can expect from this is the applause of the crowd and the satisfaction of a job well done. After 25 years Rocky Horror is an institution. Rocky Horror has lasted so long because casts have managed to conduct themselves in a professional manner towards the management and patrons. Casts and cast members that do not, can expect to be dismissed quickly. Some examples of unprofessional conduct include: being absent from the show without calling the cast leadership in advance (the dreaded no-call/no-show), PUI (performing under the influence), and UN- WANTED and excessive sexual harassment of audience members. All this aside, being a cast member CAN be fun being associated with Rocky Horror has allowed me to develop some long and dear friendships. The memories (ex. '83 Cast Orgy) I have will last me forever. I only ask that you seriously think it over before you audition. Are you willing to put in all the hard work and always act in a professional manner, or are you just in it for the fun? If you *are* only in it for the fun, don't bother auditioning. You're just wasting everyone's time, including your own. **************************************************** CALENDAR OF ROCKY EVENTS **************************************************** AT THE CLINTON STREET THEATRE (unless otherwise noted) 2522 SE CLINTON STREET, PORTLAND for more information email rockypdx@collegeclub.com June 10th, 4pm - Open auditions for the 28th Clinton St. Cabaret June 17th, 4pm - Open auditions for the 28th Clinton St. Cabaret June 17th, 11:30pm - **Toast Out - Last Performance of the 27th Cabaret** June 18th - Gay Pride Parade.
