Balo, Zola, and I got to go to the Con, and we had a BLAST!! Kristin and Mother (Associate Cab Members) also went, and stayed in a different hotel. We came, we saw, we gambled, we lost, we met celebs, we got immortalized on TV (yeah, whatever). The five of us met Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy), and Richard O'Brien. I got to meet Nell Campbell in the Hallway, but she vanished before I could tell anyone else. None of us got close to Patricia Quinn (pout), we suspect she ducked out early. Zola and I appear all over the VH1 Celebrity Karaoke Special. We taped it. We went to the Con hosted by Sal Piro. They had an all-day bash, auctions, raffles, vendor booths, pre-shows, costume contest, and more that we probably missed (we had to take a lunch break!). I wonder how much money Sal made off with that day. Zola entered the costume contest as Space Riff. He didn't win, but he looked awesome. Kelly from Seattle entered as Floorshow Frank, and she placed. She went on to shake it in front of Pat, Nell, Richard, and Anthony. She didn't win, but she looked awesome, and we were jealous! The Rich Weirdos did a preshow: "Blame Canada" from the South Park Movie. It was hilarious. Dammit... I wanted to meet Patricia Quinn! Well, maybe next time (sigh). ------------------------------------------------------------- COSMOS FACTORY TO PUBLISH ROCKY HORROR TRIVIA BOOK from alt.cult-movies.rocky-horror Cosmo's Factory has announced today it will be publishing the "New Rocky Horror Trivia Book" from Michael Hess. This will be the revised edition of the trivia book that Sal Piro sells thru the Fan Club. There is also the possibility that the trivia book will be put out as an interactive CD. It will contain many new questions and a revised "where are they now" section. Copies of the new book/CD will be available sometime in the upcoming year via the web and at many popular Rocky Horror venues. Michael Hess was the original author of the Rocky Horror Trivia Book and the co-author of the Audience Participation Guide with Sal Piro. More information on the author, Michael Hess, is featured on page 149 of Creatures of the Night I by Sal Piro. Keep watching www.rockyhorrortrivia.com for more details. ------------------------------------------------------------- FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD by Mark Tomaino via alt.cult-movies.rocky-horror Midnight Insanity would like to invite you to the MOTHER- FUCKER of all conventions. This will be our third national convention. We will be celebrating the 26th anniversary of Rocky Horror AND the 20th Anniversary of Shock Treatment. In attending about a dozen conventions over the last 8 years we have noticed that so many people now arrive on Thursday that we decided to add that as a day to the convention. So many people end up staying through Sunday that we thought we would give you something to do if you wanted on that day as well. We have tried to allow a lot of time for unstructured fun. We want to give you an overdose of RHPS but also a chance to put on your dancing shoes, express yourselves, and hang out with friends. If your work or travel arrangements do not permit the extra day, don't worry. We will be confining all RHPS and ST specific events to Friday and Saturday. Thursday usually finds lots of people wandering around the hotel wondering what to do or hanging out in the lobby. For more information email Mark Tomaino at: mi2001@midnightinsanity.com ------------------------------------------------------------- FRANK'S DINNER CORSET NOW ON ROCKY HORROR COSTUME LIST by Ruth Fink-Winter via alt.cult-movies.rocky-horror I'm very pleased to announce that I acquired Frank's dinner corset from the film and the Belasco floorshow corset lot in Dori's auction at the con. (If you are wondering, the Belasco is the theater where the Rocky Horror Show came to Broadway the first time). Thank you very much to everyone for your support; I am very happy that the costumes are staying in the Rocky Horror family, and my husband Wally and I will take very good care of them. (Wally used to work as an archivist, and we'll be getting acid-free tissue paper, dessicant for an airtight display case, the works.) The items are being extensively photographed and the photos put up on the Rocky Horror Costume List for everyone to see and use. Preliminary photos are now up at: http://myweb.wwa.com/~wbarsell/dinnercorset.htm There are closeups of the stitched flowers, the different kinds of rhinestones/gems, and full front and back views. Enjoy, and while you're visiting, check out the rest of the Anal Retentive Costume List at: http://myweb.wwa.com/~wbarsell/indxruth.html ************************************************************ LOCAL NEWS - EUGENE ************************************************************ ACTOR'S CABARET "ROCKY HORROR SHOW" A SUCCESS by Mike Bennett Actor's Cabaret of Eugene produced "The Rocky Horror Show" again this fall. This year's production featured a returning cast from their last run of the show 2 years ago. The play ran on weekends from October 27th through November 4th, before moving to Albany for 2 shows on November 10th and 11th. ------------------------------------------------------------- FORBIDDEN FRUIT'S HALLOWEEN SHOW KICKS ASS by Mike Bennett After an unsure start caused by new leadership in the University's Cultural Forum office, Forbidden Fruit managed to produce a kick-ass show despite having about 2 weeks notice. Helping bring order to the chaos was a large returning cast presence led by their Cast Director, Lara Wickes. They rehearsed hard and were able to put the final polish on their show at a special performance in Portland at the Clinton Street Theatre on October 28th. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, (I always wanted to say that) in Eugene on Halloween, about 500 audience members paid $5-7 each to watch the show, affirming what I've been suspecting for a long time. Eugene needs a regular Rocky Horror venue. ------------------------------------------------------------- FORBIDDEN FRUIT TO BECOME OFFICIAL UO STUDENT GROUP by Mike Bennett In part, because of the chaos caused by the Cultural Forum, the leadership of Forbidden Fruit has begun the process of becoming a fully recognized student group at the University of Oregon. Once this is complete, Forbidden Fruit will have the ability to produce shows without the need of a sponsoring group like the Cultural Forum. Hopefully, this will allow Rocky to become self-perpetuat- ing. With luck, shows can be produced on a term or monthly basis by next season. Regardless of the outcome of this process, Forbidden Fruit hopes to produce at least one more show at the UofO this year, and is looking at the possibility of road-tripping to Portland, Salem and Corvallis this season. As always, if you would like to join the cast, contact Mike Bennett at rhpsoregon@yahoo.com ************************************************************ LOCAL NEWS - PORTLAND ************************************************************ AUDITION NOTICE FOR THE 29TH CLINTON STREET CABARET Saturday, December 16th from Noon until 5:30pm at The Clinton Street Theatre Monday, December 18th from 7:00pm until 10:00pm at The Cabaret House... email RockyPDX@collegeclub.com for Directions. When should you be on the lookout to stay off the road or be a member of our caravan? December 9th, 2000 when we will leave from the Clinton Street Theatre at 7pm Sharp! All are welcome to come with the chance to meet cast members from the VTC of Seattle, WA; The Rich Weirdos of Vancouver, BC; Our Hosts and more! See you on the road next weekend!!! ------------------------------------------------------------- THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ELECTION by Chris Balo The Executive Council Election for the 29th Clinton Street Cabaret took place on November 11, 2000 to select the new government for the next term of our cast. For the Role of President, going up were Adrian Honey, Heather Carlin, & Chris Balo(me). After 2 votes and a discussion I am the next President of the Clinton Street Cabaret - term #3. For Secretary Historian we had 2 people going out for it: Adrian Honey & Steff Ferguson, after 1 vote, Steff Ferguson was elected to also her 3rd term in this position. The vote for Cast Director was a hard one for the group. Rick Hamell & Kris "Sprout" Jones were both in the running for the position. After 2 votes and a discussion, we still had a stalemate on the vote. Therefore according to the Cast By-laws, the decision was left to the out going EC to determine the new Director. With a 2/3 vote, Rick Hamell is the new Director for the Clinton Street Cabaret! ************************************************************ CALENDAR OF ROCKY EVENTS ************************************************************ CLINTON STREET CABARET CLINTON STREET THEATRE 2522 SE CLINTON STREET, PORTLAND for more information see their website at: http://www.rockypdx.org DECEMBER Saturday Dec. 2nd - Performance Saturday Dec. 9th - Road Trip (Bremerton, WA) Saturday Dec. 16th - Noon-5:30pm, AUDITIONS at the Theatre Saturday Dec. 16th - *Theme Performance, Period Night* Monday Dec. 18th - 7-10pm, AUDITIONS at The Cabaret House (send email to rockypdx@collegeclub.com for directions) Saturday December 30th - *Toast Out - Last Performance of the 28th CSC* JANUARY Saturday Jan. 13th - Dress Rehearsal, 29th CSC Saturday Jan. 20th - **Opening Night, 29th CSC** ------------------------------------------------------------- FORBIDDEN FRUIT UNIVERSITY OF OREGON EMU BALLROOM, EUGENE for more information see their website at: http://www.geocities.com/mjbennett69/rockyhorror.html No shows scheduled at this time. *********************************
