My experience

It was written Wednesday the 21st of July in the year 1999. The place is Germany. The time was eight p.m.
My brother, my best friend Ann-Katrin and I have travelled from afar...
Wait a second, I don't want to go on like this the whole story. Anyways, my big bro, Ann-Ka and I arrived in the little town Dreieich, one of many stations for the Rocky Horror Show in Germany. My brother, who is 31 now, was the only one who has seen Rocky live, so Ann-Ka and I were what you would call "Rocky Horror Virgins". Both of us were very excited, but all that we brought was just a handfull of rice.
We watched all the people who came dressed up, mainly as Magenta, but most just wore something with fishnets. One guy looked exactly like Boy George...

Ann-Ka and I, followed by my brother, held our breath as we entered the theater tent. The first ten rows of seats were made up of normal, cushioned, red chairs. Behind the chairs was the lighting equipment, and behind that were bleachers. We took our places in the last row of the bleachers, since we were too late for better seats, but we could still see very well. The stage looked incredibly fabulous.
The whole thing gave the impression of a gothic-looking castle. The stage walls and floor gave the illusion of solid stone. In the center of the stage was a big, metal-looking gate, which was the sonic transducer. On the right side on the stage was a small red freezer, which had "Coca-Cola" written on it, which was hilarious enough, since that was the home and grave of Eddie. Behind the freezer were stairs leading up to the balcony. On the side of the stairs was a window and a door. The balcony and stair banister was made out of metal. In the center of the balcony was a futuristic-looking elevator, which gave the impression of being made out of shiny metal. That elevator also serves as Rocky's tank.
On both sides of the stage were two huge speakers, with a small gargoyle on each of them. A cloud of mist hung over the first rows and the stage, and everything looked wonderfully gothic.

A white sheet with gold and silver glittering wedding bells hung over the transducer, to indicate the wedding scene. 60's rock'n'roll music was played. Suddenly you saw four figures coming down from the stage: the Phantoms. They wore black, ripped pants and purple jackets, the hair made up Elvis style and wearing dark sunglasses. They were two women and two men, coming INTO the audience and started sitting on people's laps and flirting and dancing with them. When they dissapeared, the music stopped and the audience became quiet. The lighting effects were incredible by themselves. Beams of light in different shapes and forms hushed over the stage and the audience, when the Phantoms stepped out once again. They announced "Glad you could come tonight!", and then the Usherette stepped out unto the stage. She wore a short, blue uniform, buttoned open far down. She wore the popcorn tray and had immense blond hair (Marge Simpson or Space Magenta in blond.)
Well, she started singing "Science Fiction/Double Feature", you know the song. After she dissapeared, the Narrator walked out. The conversation with the audience was something like the following: "I would like to take you on a strange journey..." Somebody in the audience: "How strange?" Narrator: "Fucking strange, believe me!"
After this enlightening conversation, he explained that we are not to throw rice or water at the actors, on the stage or in the technical equipment...(but I honestly don't think that everybody followed that advice, judging by the janitors in the intermission that were sweeping the rice off the stage...)

Well, you know the story, and it all proceeded from there. Let me give you a quick description of the characters costumes:
Janet: was wearing a pink wide skirt, that ended just below the knees. Under it she was wearing one of those petticoat things, I think.
Brad: was wearing a plaid suit.
Riff Raff: was wearing the usual butler costume, but his hair was short, blue, and spiky, and he had a thin beard and a thin mustache.
Magenta: Her hair was darker, flatter and longer as the usual Magenta's hair. She was wearing a...I don't know how to explain, it's like a black, tight thing shaped like a bathing suit. She was wearing also an apron, high black boots and the little maid's cap in her hair. And of course stockings.
Columbia: Columbia only wears her golden suit in the very beginning and at Frank's wedding with Rocky. Else she's wearing the normal glitter-top, the striped glittery hot-pants, stockings, silver maryjanes. Her hair was blond and pretty short, but not as short as Little Nell's was in the movie.
Frank 'N' Furter: Oh, you know the usual: stockings, garter belt, make-up, and a leather jacket that had "Frank" written on it and was showing a heart with a knife through it. Just...Frank. :)
Rocky: Woo-hoo!!! He was wearing practically NOTHING...red and silver briefs with white boots and lots and lots of glitter and lots and lots of muscle...
Eddie: Our Eddie was bald, had the cuts on his face like Meatloaf had, and was wearing leather stuff and had all that rock 'n' roll stuff in his appearance. A very short appearance though...muahahaha!
Dr. Scott: The same actor as Eddie. He was wearing a wig, a mustache and a suit.
Phantoms: I've already explained how they looked in the beginning of the show, but as soon as the words "I'm just a Sweet Transvestite" come out of Frank's mouth and he throws his cape off, they re-appear wearing a lot less than before. I don't really remember, but it looked a lot like underwear... *duh*

The differences:
  • Frank kills Eddie with a CHAINSAW.
  • Eddie lives in a freezer that has "Coca Cola" written on it. He also dies in that freezer: Riff stuffes him back in there and Frank puts the chainsaw inside and cuts him up.
  • They don't eat Eddie. I don't know why, and I was dissapointed hat they wouldn't do it, but they just don't. Instead Frank holds up one of these little plastic bags with a steak inside and shouts "Look what became of Eddie!" while Riff and Mags are laughing and Columbia is screaming (once again) her head off.
  • It seems to me as if Columbia screams a lot more here...*ow*
  • Frank owns a little gadget that makes people freeze if he points it at them. Somewhere in the show, when Columbia is arguing with Frank, Riff and Mags, Riff points it at Columbia, but it didn't work anymore...she got high as a kite from it and ran around barking. After she finished with that, she climbed up on the blacony, shouting "I'm a wild wolverine!!!" and started howling.
  • After Columbia ran out howling, Mags and Riff started arguing with Frank. Frank runs after both of them with his freezing gadget, but they also get high and run around like mad. Then Frank accidently points it at himself, which made him freeze for a while and then he started singing the first verses to "I'm a big big girl in a big big world.." Soon he came to, however.
  • THere are SOOOO many things that were so hilarious and different in every single conversation!!! I wish I could write down all of them, but since I can't, you will just have to go and see for yourself...
