| The Xi Mu Chapter participates in several service projects in the local community such as the following: Habitat for Humanity Work Day Tutorial Program at the Hayes High School (Every Wednesday) Foster Parents Day & Night Out at the Jefferson County DHR. Read to a Kid at Price Elementary School Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" Breast Cancer Walk The Prescott House FireHouse Shelter for the Homeless Lakeshore Foundation Wheelchair Basketball Tournament Volunteer Coaching at Marshall Middle School Hands on Birmingham-MLK Service Day UAB's Into the Streets Pathway House |
| The chapter also hosts programs and makes donations to promote our national service projects as well: Operation Big Book Bag - to provide school supplies to needy children *Xi Mu donated school supplies to the SouthTown Housing Authority at the beginning of the year. Project Reassurance- to provide awareness teenage mothers about the importance of pre-natal and post-natal care, and to better understand infant care and child development. Buckle-Up America- to promote safety belt awareness in vehicular mobilization especially child car seat safety. Habitat for Humanity- building housing for needy families. *Xi Mu held an event in which proceeds went directly to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Voter Mobilization- voter registration *Xi Mu has held several voter registration drives this school term, registering over 300 people at UAB alone. |
