WALKER RATLIFF

Retired miner Walker Ratliff 69, died Friday March 06 in Riverview Hospital

at Louisa.  Funeral  services were conducted Monday March 9 in the Mouth of

Rush Freewill Baptist Church with Claude Preston and Scott Castle the

officiating ministers.  Interment followed in the Clark Castle Cemetery at

Nippa under the directions of the Preston Funeral Home.


The son of the late Harve and Nola Hampton Ratliff, he was born at Nippa on

July 30 1900.  He was a lifelong resident of Ulysess.  He is survived by his

wife, the former Virgie Music, whom he married on January 18 1920: a son

Jerry Walker Ratliff of Canton, Ohio, six daughters, Mrs. Verna Fletcher of

Meally, Mrs. Verlie Mae Phelps of Inez,  Mrs. Virgie Yvonne Johnson of and

Mrs.Valerie Annett Mowen of Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Viola Music of David,  and

Mrs.Jacqueline Hinkle of Columbus, Ohio.


Additional survivors include four brothers, Harry Ratliff of Barnett's Creek,

Jess Ratliff of Hall and Jim Ratliff of Demo: four sisters, Mrs. Flora Caldwell

of Sitka, Mrs. Lora Branham of Nippa,  Mrs. Venis Music of Greenwich,

Ohio and mrs. Clara Music of Van Lear:  twenty- seven grandchildren and

six great grandchildren.
