JOHN E RATLIFF 1872-1954 SERVICES SUNDAY FOR COUNTY MAN, JOHN ELLIOTT RATLIFF OF BARNETTS CREEK, SUCCUMBS FRIDAY, Funeral services were held Sunday at the Fairview Church for John Elliott Ratliff, 72, who died Friday April 4, 1954 at his home at Barnetts creek, following an illness of a month. Born April 30, 1872, he was the son of Jim and Polly Spradlin Ratliff. He was a life long resident of Barnetts Creek. A retired railroad employee, he had been a member of the Freewill Baptist Church for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife April 25, 1953. Surviving are three sons, Freddie Ratliff, Staffordsville, Farmer Ratliff, Barnetts Creek, and Gordon Ratliff, Jackson Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Glada Fraley, City, and Mrs. Clara Preston, Barnetts Creek; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Spencer, City, Mrs. Mint Spencer Leander and one brother, Paris Ratliff ,Lucasville, Ohio. The grandsons served as pallbearers. Scott Castle and Charles Lemaster were officiating ministers and the music was by the Staffordsville Quartet.
