Heart Attack Fatal Jan. 15 To Ed Ratliff
Services held Friday At Rockhouse Church
Ed Ratliff, 75, died at his home at Rock House at
9:00p.m., Tuesday, January 15,1957 of a heart attack.
The son of Bud and Lou Collins Ratliff, he was born
in Johnson County July 12, 1881. A well known
farmer of that section, he also worked as a miner.
He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survied by his widow, Mrs. Tallie Ratliff, and
seven children; three sons, Bert, Ashland, Robbie,
Rock House, and Mason, West Van Lear; four daughters,
Mrs. Bertha Clevenger and Mrs. Perly Conley, both of
Paris, Ky., and Mrs. Hulda Little and Mrs. Mildred
Centers, of Rock House. Also surviving are the
following brothers and sisters: Jess who lives in Ohio,
Press, Ashland, Earl, of this city, Den, Virgil, Russell
and Irvin, all of Rock House, Sissie, Rock House,
Emma Van Hoose and Jessie Van Hoose, both of Thealka.
Services were conducted at 10:00a.m., January 18, from
Rock House Freewill Baptist Church by Millard Van Hoose
and Scott Catsle. Music was by the Tom's Creek Quartet.
Burial was in the family cemetery under direction of the
Paintsville Funeral Home.
