Direct Entry Midwife Care

These women although experienced in birth and midwifery care don't HAVE to have a "dgree" or structured medical training.  They are prohibitted in some states.  They very rarely work in birhitng centers and focus primarily on homebirth.  Some pregnant women prefer this type of midwife as they are seen as "more natural."  They often have extensive knowledge in nutrition and herbs.

The Daughters of Time on the Paths to Midwifery by Barbara Katz Rothman, PhD  Discusses what midwives "do".   The philosophies and differences between midwives on birth and pregnacy.  A WONDERFUL article!!!!
