January 19, 1999 'POWER RANGERS LOST GALAXY' TO PREMIERE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6 FEATURING ALL NEW CAST, NEW SETS AND NEW VEHICLES Power Rangers Reaches 300th Episode Milestone on Fox Kids Network PASADENA, Calif. -- Combining the continued popularity of the Power Rangers with its master plan to keep the property new and exciting to millions of young fans, Fox Kids Network will unveil POWER RANGERS LOST GALAXY, the next phase in the superhero saga, on Sat., Feb. 6, 1999 at 9:30 AM/ET. The premiere of POWER RANGERS LOST GALAXY also marks a milestone for the series, which will culminate in the airing of the franchise's 300th episode, it was announced today by Maureen Smith, General Manager, Fox Kids Network. This monumental accomplishment, together with the significant change to the series, come as the most current program "Power Rangers in Space" holds the No. 1 position on Saturdays with Boys 6-11 (season-to-date through 1/2/99). Classic episodes featured in the weekday series "Power Rangers Power Playback" [BR Note: Weekday? HUH?] continue to rank No. 1 in rating against all broadcast and cable competition among Kids 2-11 and Boys 2-11, season-to-date through 1/2/99. "Power Rangers is an amazing property with an unparalleled track-record with kids," said Ms. Smith. "The fresh storylines, fun blend of action, fantasy, and comedy, and new young viewers discovering it every year, makes this series a continual ratings success." Adding an all-new cast and spectacular new vehicles, POWER RANGERS LOST GALAXY will take the action and adventure to the outer regions of the cosmos. The five new teens are: Kendrix the Yellow Ranger (Valerie Vernon), Kai the Blue Ranger (Archie Kao), Leo the Red Ranger (Danny Slavin) and Damon the Green Ranger (Reggie Rolle), all from Earth; and Maya the Yellow Ranger (Cerina Vincent), an alien from a distant planet outside the universe. The new teen superheroes of POWER RANGERS LOST GALAXY will be introduced as they depart from Earth to cruise through space in search of unexplored planets, alien species and new worlds. With faster ships, more powerful Zords, and awesome new powers, they will seek out distant planets and star systems aboard a gigantic space colony called Terra Venture. The youthful heroes will also continue to provide positive role models for today's youth as they teach the value of honesty, hard work, taking responsibility for our environment, accepting physical and mental handicaps, embracing cultural differences, eschewing negative stereotypes and affirming positive self-images. The Power Rangers series has always introduced change to its young audience with an amazing amount of support. During the second season, the introduction of Tommy as the new White Ranger rocketed the already No. 1 series into the stratosphere with a 14.3/74 among Kids 2-11. During the third season, the show introduced the "Alien Rangers" which resulted in season-high series ratings of an outstanding 11.4 rating/56 share with Boys 6-11.
