| Mount Lofty Staion, at Stirling, lies at the top of the grade through the Mount Lofty Ranges, the highest point on the Main South between Adelaide and the Victorian border. The station lies on a curve at the top of the grade, so that engines are working hard to reach the station from either direction, and can be heard for some distance before they come into view. |
