| The traffic light says, Dont Walk So I dont Red means STOP So I do I pause a moment to take in the sights: A man across the street is jogging bywhizzing byand I wonder where hes running to The people in their cars, always in a hurry, annoyance on their faces What are their stories? A woman pushing a stroller to my right; A glaring sun irritating her pint-sized passengerhe lets out a sleepy whine Hes in no hurry, time stands still for him As it does for me, waiting for a green light The woman is still plodding on with her baggage in tow Oblivious to my presence I take a deep, luxurious breath and feel my insides swell with life I know I exist; I know where Im going though Im not hurrying to get there The sign changesWalk So I do As I feel the energy, the life in my legs I notice how great it feels to finally be in motion, exhilarated as I am The world resumes its course My heart says, Go So I do, a new sense of serenity in my mind |
